Every year, ABC Family has a countdown to Christmas in the evenings of December. This is an outstanding idea because it gives children of all ages the opportunity to not only keep a countdown until Santa comes, but to get into the Christmas spirit.

Not only do children watch the series of movies, but so do their parents, who like it whether they like to admit to it or not. Even the teenagers that think they’re too cool for school watch the movies that are televised. That just shows that ABC wants to provide a reason for everyone to be in the Christmas countdown.

Sometimes, a lot of people spend Christmas by themselves. Just by knowing that there are movies about families being together, showing each others happiness could cheer someone else up. Then again they do have those movies that we refer to as “tear jerkers.” Sometimes all movies can’t be about being happy, but that just shows that happiness isn’t key to being happy on Christmas day.

From my own experience, children that my family is close too, have been watching every night to experience all of the different movies that they have never watched. For them to be so happy over a movie that I am sure almost all people have seen a million times, is such a great feeling.

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.
