Sharing is caring! The Sharing for the Holidays presents the money donated by AAJHS students to the Veterans

Sharing for the Holidays took notice of the holiday season by participating in the school’s third year of fundraising money to donate to veterans.

The Sharing for the Holidays committee members collected donations during lunch periods from seventh, eighth and ninth graders. The grade’s competed in order to see who’d be able to watch a movie on the last day of school before winter break.

Seventh grade won the competition by raising $409; eighth grade followed closely behind with $403, and ninth grade only raised $226, losing the competition.

In total the students raised $1038 through student and teacher donations. Some gave small amounts of pennies and dimes while others gave up to $10 donations. All the money was donated to the local Veteran’s charity.

The Sharing for the Holidays program also is involved in a school wide charity which helps needy kids during the holiday season. However, the money used for that program is earned through the “dress down fund” which teacher’s pay in order to dress down on Fridays.

This event is a way to get students involved in the holiday spirit and help fellow people. It is a tradition of the school that is going to be around for as long as possible.

“I think this program will continue,” eighth grade teacher Jessica Gouse said. “I also think it will get bigger and better as time goes on.”
