Students raise money for veterans

The ninth grade committee gathers together to hold up the check of $646.60.

Each year, the school has a coin collection where the students are able to donate loose change or any amount they want to the Veteran’s Home in Hollidaysburg.
This year volunteers collected about $646.60 from the whole junior school. All grade levels participated in the collection. This year, ninth grade won with a collection of $346.46 and celebrated with ice cream, eighth grade came in second with a collection of $163. 87 and seventh came in third with a collection of $136. 27.
“I donated three quarters,” ninth grade student Reece McManamy said.
The students donated their money during their lunch period. Some students donate a significant amount and some donated a low amount.
“Yes, Mr. Shultz told us that ninth graders have never won. So I was definitely surprised,” Mcmanamy said.
Shultz was one of the teachers who helped out with the collection.
“Yes, I do typically take part in fundraisers,” ninth grade student Reece McManamy said.
On Friday, Dec. 8, the school gave each ninth grader a ticket for them to hand in at lunch for each ninth grade student to get a free ice cream treat. The Veteran’s home residents are getting presents with the money for the each person in the home.

Maddy Pincin is an adventurous and outgoing person once you get to know her. She is shy at first but once she's around friends it's a different story....
I think that it’s nice that students are able to help out with veterans.
